The Department of Information Technology Services at Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado is looking for a versatile, intelligent and hard-working individual to join our team. The Department is responsible for nearly all technology related services on campus.
This is an entry level position for the Department but one of the most important, requiring a balance of technical and customer service skills. While many of the duties are well defined, we are a small organization so there is ample opportunity for anyone looking for new challenges in nearly any aspect of Information Technology.
Duties:Broadly, this position provides front-line technical support for nearly all of the systems for which IT Services is responsible. This support includes installation and/or configuration of computing hardware (computers, network switches, printers, etc.), software, A/V devices, network cabling, diagnostics, troubleshooting and end-user assistance.
In addition to the day to day technical work, this position is expected to actively improve all processes, both in general and specifically within their assigned scope of responsibility. Examples include, investigating new technology, improving documentation, reducing waste, and/or anything that improves the quality of delivered product.
This position is also expected to engage in knowledge and/or skill enhancing activity relevant to the campus IT environment. This could include reading documentation, attending classes, seminars or events, attending formal trainings (online or in person) or participating in projects and operations that are outside the scope of the normal job description.
Bachelor's degree and one year of general IT experience.

Salary and Benefits:
Compensation will be at an hourly rate equivalent to $40,000 per year. The position is FLSA non-exempt and overtime eligible. Excellent shared contribution insurance and retirement plans, paid time off and access to other University benefits.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
